It is being reported that a carnival ride accident has
injured as many as six children at a carnival on National Parks Highway in Carlsbad, California. A
carnival ride apparently suffered a broken bolt on Saturday evening at the site of Moore's Greater Shows, sponsored by the Carlsbad Heights Lions Club.
The Carlsbad Police Department reported that the bolt, apparently holding a support in place, unexpectedly broke which caused the track to slide and the ride car to fall. The car was holding between six and ten children at the time of the accident. The injured, between the ages of 6 and 8-years-old, reportedly were thrown forward before being abruptly jarred to a stop after the bolt failed. Although responding emergency crews treated two of the victims for minor injuries at the scene, the injuries were not considered serious and all of the children reportedly left the carnival with their parents.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing.
